I'm hoping to go again next year - not been since 2006 :bigcry:

I'll probably be flying over next year though if I go, as we drove over in 2005 and spent too much time driving (in the rain and at night) and not enough time doing stuff.

We went UK - Wolfsburg (Autostadt) - Worthersee - Grossglockner Pass - Stuttgart (Porsche Museum) - UK over a course of 7 days but ended up pretty much driving for 4 days.

The "Bloody Knuckles" crew are on it, we're planning it as we speak. we'll be driving down too so if ya fancy hooking up along the way that'd be cool.

we're planning on stopping only at stuttgart for the porsche museum on the way down and catching a few sights on the way back. already excited and theres like 8 months to go, ha ha.

I'd love to go too, but the only way I can see that I'll be able to is if I get another better paid job or a lodger in a few months before!

Been discussing this one on UK mkiv's too.

I guess once you've paid for your fuel, ferry/tunnel ticket, toll, passes and accommodation theres not much left of your months wages.

Can anyone give me some help here

I've been looking at the Worthersee website this week and cant for the life of me figure out what ticket I'm meant to buy.

I am planning to get over by plane rather than car and just chill out for the 4 days, but the tickets are all aimed at drivers so I'm a little baffled.

Also if anyone can recommend any decent hotels close to the venue I'd really appreciate it. going abroad without a car, to an event that I've never been to is pretty damn daunting

Ta muchly x

I got an email back this morning. I only need to buy the 10 euro 4 day pass ticket :)
I can buy them on the day as well but I'd rather buy online and have it in my hand than get all the way to Austria and not get in lol

Just a quick note, the above link is for Southern Worthersee which is held in America, this show is not to be confused with GTI Treffen (Worthersee) which is held in Austria!

Ah thats cool! Just thought I'd better make it aware to others incase they went on there and didn't realise!!

I'm not gonna be doing Worthersee anymore...... too expensive, maybe in 2011!! Instead I'll be hitting as many UK shows as possible! :supercool:

Looks like I won't be going this year

As for tickets - we never bought ours in advance... the 2 years I've been, we've stayed in a B&B on the otherside of the lake (Portschach to be exact) and got a speedboat across the lake each morning to Maria Worth. When you got off the speedboat at Maria Worth, there were people waiting at the piers that you paid your admission too. Was something like €4 a day or something equally silly cheap!

As for the show itself, the best days to go are the first couple of days before the weekend. The locals turn up at the weekend to get drunk and there were quite a few instances of drunk people falling onto peoples cars the last time we went. Full or drunken idiots tbh...

If I remember rightly, we went over on a Tuesday and came back on the Friday last time - spent Weds & Fri at the show and Thurs just went for a drive about (& popped into Italy for a bit, as you do! )

I went with a friend this year and it was awesome!!!

Made it into a 12 day road-trip though parts of Germany. All good fun!!!

As for the show, like Niki said, there are alot of German drunks!! Wednesday and the Friday I feel were the best days to go. The Thursday was a German / Austrian bank holiday and it was manic!! Heavily drunk people just falling over everywhere.. The other days were good though :)
